The Coal Authority headquarters in Mansfield has a wide selection of photographs. The British Coal Photographic Collection has been scanned and can be viewed at the Centre (the originals are kept at the National Archives, Kew). There are over 7,500 of Nottinghamshire.

The National Coal Mining Museum for England has a collection of photographs of various mines around the county which can be viewed by appointment.

Picture the Past has a wide range of photographs on the coal industry in Nottinghamshire.

Mansfield Museum and Art Gallery has a good collection of photographs of Crown Farm Colliery (Mansfield), some are of underground and some are from the Mines Rescue. Viewing by appointment (Tel 01623 463088).

Nottinghamshire Archives has a collection of National Coal Board photographs under SO/NCB 15 and 17.

Bassetlaw Museum: the Welshman Collection of photographs is online and contains some pictures relating to coal-mining.

Film & video

BFI National Archive holds the films made by the National Coal Board (promotional etc).

The BBC Archive includes several programmes on the Miners' Strike available to view online.

Artistic

The National Coal Mining Museum for England has a collection of art depicting coal mining in various media, but not necessarily of Nottinghamshire. Viewing by appointment.
