Drawing of a Bellarmine in fine, lustrous blue grey Raeren stoneware excavated at Nottingham Castle (from C Drage, Nottingham Castle. A Place Full Royal, Transactions of the Thoroton Society, XCIII, 1989). |
Artefactual
- Brewhouse Yard Museum, Nottingham: medieval finds from Nottingham Castle
- Newark Appletongate: bulk finds from the Newark Castle excavations of the 1990s. (Now closed but available to researchers upon appointment)
- Newark Gilstrap Centre: in 2005 housing an exhibition, Castle and Conflict, on Newark’s role in the English Civil War.
Collections of medieval material, only seldom provenanced to a castle site because of the lack of excavation records, can be found in other county museums at Mansfield, Retford (the Bassetlaw Museum) and Worksop.
