For village subjects in north Nottinghamshire it would be worth visiting the website of the Welchman Photographic Project, run by Bassetlaw Museum:
Newark and Sherwood Museum Service hold a large photographic collection and although the focus is the town itself there are “photographs of most of the surrounding villages throughout the Newark and Sherwood region.” Email: museums@nsdc.info

Film and video
A number of videos on village subjects are available for loan from the Local Studies Library in Nottingham: e.g., Laxton, Woodborough, Kingston-on-Soar, Keyworth, Oxton and Radcliffe-on-Trent.
