A Victorian Rector of Bingham, the Revd. Robert Miles, had a very talented and artistic family who used their gifts to embellish the parish church and grounds. Frank Miles, his son, was a close friend of Oscar Wilde who describes visits he made to the Rectory in his collected letters edited by Rupert Hart-Davis. Frank made sketches of some of the local people, notably the Gardener's daughter and the Nailmaker's daughter, which are believed to be in private hands. Lily Langtry, another guest, was a model for angelic decorations in the church.
