- HM Inspector of Mines Reports (some from 1850s, but most from 1878-1987) provide detailed account of collieries and people and the owners, e.g. Annesley owned by Annesley Colliery Co.
- Pre-1914 gives detailed accounts of those killed in accidents (e.g. Henry Illsley, driver, 14 years run over by loaded tubs. Wollaton Colliery, owned by Wollaton Colliery Co., John Henry Bexon, driver, 13 years, struck by a loaded train)
- Lists of Mining deaths, 1850-1914
- Guide to the coalfields, 1947 onwards
- Colliery Year Book and Coal Trades Directory (gives Company’s name, registered office, Directors and address, number of employees and seams worked)
